On Sunday, November 21st, Christ the King Lutheran Church turned 40 years old! The first worship service took place on November 22, 1981, in the Great Falls Grange. In 1985, the congregation moved to newly-built facilities at our current location at 10550 Georgetown Pike near Springvale Road.

Our anniversary day began with a Holy Communion worship service at 9 am, followed at 10 am by learning classes for all ages. The heart of our celebration was our 11 am worship service with Holy Communion and thanksgiving for the financial commitments made by members of the community to our mission and ministry. A brief, favorite hymn sing concluded the worship service and marked the start of fellowship activities.

Fellowship activities included: a chili lunch to go (or eat at outside tables) with mac&cheese for the kids, a pie auction to benefit our youth going to the ELCA National Youth Gathering, a birthday cake, and other surprises! The activities ended around 1:30PM with the close of the pie auction and a special anniversary concert.

Thanks to all who participated and volunteered their time to make this such a special day!
