Education
Whether you’re three years old or ninety three years young, you’ll find a learning opportunity at Christ the King that will deepen your faith, offer strong Christian fellowship, and connect you in service with God’s people.
Rotational Sunday School: Kindergarten through 5th Grade Artists, game players, movie watchers, chefs and actors, get ready for another great year with Christ the King’s Rotational Sunday School program!
Prepare for Sunday school as you’d never expect it! Joined by their Shepherd leaders, kindergarteners through fifth graders visit a new rotation each week to learn the way they learn best -- through hands-on activities that they love. Each week brings a new adventure in multimedia, complete with popcorn, bean-bags, and popular video clips that support the Bible lesson,…or cooking, where our young chefs explore the Bible through the lens of food,…or drama, where kids take on the stage to act out their Bible story… or art…or games…. The result: our themed (and fully decorated!) Sunday school rooms are brimming with kids, and our teacher / shepherd volunteers number more than 30 people -- all sharing God’s Word with a new SPARK curriculum that’s deeply rooted in the Old and New Testaments. This year we’ve also added a new twist. Each month, kids will memorize short, faith-building Bible verses that relate to their lesson, and they’ll take turns “showing their stuff” to the congregation during worship.

Pre-Schoolers
Three and four year-olds, come join us for the fun activities that the older kids are doing!
Our three and four-year-olds get to participate in the fun activities that the older kids are doing – but from the coziness of their own special classroom, downstairs in the Kings Kids Preschool wing. Our loving Maria Wray, Don and Martina Goss, and Leigh Chowdhary are ready to guide them gently into God’s Word – and all the fun that goes with it!
Any time a parent would like to stay and help or just share the time with your child, you’re more than welcome!

Confirmation: 6th through 8th Grade
Prepare yourselves for deep Christian conversation, on-the-road faith experiences, multi-media learning and faith-building service opportunities
Sixth through eighth graders, prepare for a confirmation experience that’s a fantastic blend of Christian conversation, classroom learning, faith experiences and hands-on fun! From the comfort of their “coffee-house” setting, sixth graders are exploring the meaning of Luther’s Small Catechism and the Lutheran faith as they engage in thought-provoking discussions over a cup of hot cocoa.
Meanwhile, our seventh and eighth graders are spending two years of interactive study on the Old and New Testaments -- where they learn to challenge, question, dig deeper and develop the tools they’ll need to explore the meaning of scripture today and for the rest of their lives. Engaging conversation and multimedia tools help them explore God’s Word through movie clips, Christian websites, and interesting PowerPoint lessons. And their new youth room creates a learning environment that’s unlike what you might expect in confirmation. No more tables and chairs -- first one to class gets a seat on the couch…
…Or the front seat of a car, as we take the show on the road to participate in some area “faith experiences” during several of the Sunday school hours this year. Together, we’ll visit congregations of other faiths, investigate Christian art at the Smithsonian, and connect with God’s people through mission trips, summer confirmation camp, and much more.

Adult Sunday School
Here’s your chance to answer your questions and question your answers.
On September 18, 2011, we will begin a new journey together with a new adult Bible study that will meet in Gysan Hall. Pr. John will host a six week DVD-led series entitled “How Lutherans Interpret the Bible” by Dr. Mark Allen Powell, Professor of New Testament at Trinity Seminary in Columbus, OH. Please make time to join us during the Sunday School hour, 9:45-10:45 for this exciting and in-depth look at how we Lutheran Christians read, study, interpret and live out God’s Word for us. This study will answer your questions and question your answers!
